Finally...some more pretties!

This little "furry" guy (gal? whatever) is probably one of my favorite pieces, period. The stone is actually NOT a stone, but it's a glass called Victoria stone that was made in Japan in the late 1960's to 1970's. (It's also known as "Imori stone" for its inventor.) According to an old sales brochure posted somewhere online, this material was made from a mixture of ground up stones and then heated to turn into a glass that formed gorgeous sprays and flowers and lightning bolts of light in the material. Unfortunately Dr. Imori argued with his family and took the secret to make the stone with him So now the stuff is rare, rare, rare...and it costs a fortune when you can even find someone willing to sell it.

and I managed to actually buy a small amount of rough material several years ago, and this one was one of the first ones he cut.
